SKB: Yes.
SKB: Depending on size and medium, 2-6 months. If there is a specific date or event that has a tighter deadline, we can almost always work it out.
SKB: The inspiration for your space and a 50% deposit to hold your place.
SKB: Yes! Sending me a few images of past pieces that you like helps the most for a starting point.
SKB: Yes. If you can give me the size of your walls or space with pictures, I can help with sizing options and what proportions would look best. I do this all the time for clients.
SKB: Nothing could ever be an exact copy of another original. However, I will be able to closely reference another piece while still making it original to you if that’s what you want.
SKB: Of course. One of my favorite commissions ever was a giant Disney character painting. I love different ideas and creative input from clients, and I am always up for the challenge.
SKB: Not often. The reason is because I let the process evolve naturally resulting in a better painting without being constrained by a smaller idea on paper that adds pressure to both the artist and client for what the final piece should look like.
SKB: No. The painting is far from being finished at 50% etc, so sharing process photos with a client can sometimes cause anxiety. I have found that it works best to share the image of your piece once I am close to completion. From there, I welcome feedback and if necessary, I am happy to make a round of edits to then get the piece to a place where it’s ready to sign. No piece ever ships out without approval from the client. If a process photo in the studio is a must, I will of course send but always want the client to be aware that what they are seeing is far from finished!
SKB: If the location is not close-bye and the piece is larger than 40” inches, we will typically ship the larger works unstretched and rolled in a tube. This is safer and more cost effective. We usually prefer to ship to your local framer of choice to re-stretch the painting for you. If the piece is on panel, we can ship in a crate via freight.
SKB: I try to work with every budget, so always ask, but commissions typically start around 3k for paper and 5k for canvas. We like to always have some “custom” options readily available on the website under “SKB CUSTOM” that are under 5k as well. If your budget is under 2000, there are always originals listed on the website “SHOP” to browse.
